Soldiers at Play!!
The annual A Weekend of Heroes Action Figure Convention/Military and Law Enforcement Recruitment display is proudly entering its 8th year over the weekend of June 6~7, 2009 at the historical Glendale Auditorium in Glendale, California. Established in April 2002, A Weekend of Heroes is a venue for military action figure collectors to meet the real heroes of yesteryears. Over the past six years, the convention has grown to include a sister show, USAirsoft Expo. From World War II to Vietnam to current conflicts, A Weekend of Heroes is THE most effective and fun-filled way for generations to share the notion of history! When kids are fascinated by combat dioramas amongst the rattling sounds from Airsoft shooting tunnels, conversation between father and son, grandfather and grandchild will begin... A Weekend of Heroes is all about preserving a sense of America...through TOYS! 2009 theme is “Soldiers at Play”. Reminiscent of the 1960’s Sears Christmas Catalog, the 2009 show invites participants to showcase their home movies and photographs of the “olden years of action heroes”. Inspired by a news story about Walter Reed Hospital’s Friday Night Wound Soldier Dinner program for recent veterans, AWH 2009’s Saturday Night Wounded Soldier Dinner will invite soldiers with prosthetics from Iraq/Afghanistan campaign to join us for a fun yet patriotic evening at Glendale Hilton. Lion Claws Angeles will make their first public appearance at this year’s show. These ladies exemplify the spirits of Operation Lion Claws Military Simulation Series...they’re intelligent (a paralegal, a play write, and a hotel sales manager) who are attractive, athletic, and will give the troops a run for their AEGs at any Airsoft battle field! USAirsoft EXPOUSAirsoft EXPO is now officially a permanent fixture in A Weekend of Heroes’ brand of unique military hobbies. KWA USA, Spartan Imports, and TSI Armories will manage shooting tunnels for everyone to try their skills (no outside AEGs please). Statistics indicated that women are better shots than men …… you are welcome to put this theory to the test! |
